SAUVIES ISLAND BOATHOUSE SIDING REPLACEMENT AND PATIO COVER CONSTRUCTION
This project began with an interior repaint and some cosmetic changes, however the real highlight came when wanting to maximize the usage around the property. Initially, we built a covered patio on the left side for an ideal area to enjoy the outdoor space during hot or rainy days with plenty of privacy to barbeque, let the pup out, to store paddle boards and other outdoor equipment, or to just hang out and enjoy the beautiful setting in which this property is located. We also constructed a matching style fence on the opposite side. The Patio cover and fences were constructed from high end cedar lumber that was stained prior to installation to ensure it's protected from the outdoor elements.
For the siding, we discovered that the initial siding, which was Pine lumber installed with interior nails and were not appropriate for an exterior siding that would protect the rest of the house. While there were many options for new siding, our clients opted for Corrugated Metal Siding which not only was a stylish option with the Matte Black finish, but also ideal for longevity as well as weight which is an important element for a floating home. There were many areas that needed attention throughout the project, such as making sure that the siding, trim, and other areas were adequately installed to protect the house against elements like water or pests, but to also look beautiful in the areas especially where it transitions into the cedar shingles on the bottom story. Other surfaces such as the soffits and unfinished doors were primed and painted with a high end exterior grade paint to match the siding.
